Connecting Jira Sub-task to Salesforce Task?

I am currently linking my Epics, Stories, and Tasks with a custom object in Salesforce. For our use case, Sub-tasks in Jira would more logically fit in as standard Tasks in Salesforce, rather than another version of that custom object.

Ideally, if a Story is linked to a Salesforce record via Remote System Reference, then I already have a Salesforce record ID on that Story. Since Sub-Tasks have to exist on an existing issue, then in theory I should be able to reference the Salesforce ID on the issue that the Sub-task belongs to and then use that to populate the Salesforce Task Related to ID field so that the Task is associated to the same parent as in Jira.

Custom Object Record <=> Jira Story/Epic/Bug
|_ Task <=> Sub-Task

Has anyone accomplished this? I am having trouble figuring out how to tap into the Salesforce ID associated to the parent issue in Jira.
