Creating a user macro to auto populate the {secure} macro

Hi,

I've been battling to try to create a user macro to auto populate a {secure} macro. Basically 99% of the time we use the macro in the same way (eg. title = "password, group = "All", timeout = "20").

Given that there is no configuration of Security and Encryption to allow for defaults, I thought I could achieve the same by creating a user macro, however I'm struggling (this is the first user macro I've tried to create so that may very well be the root issue here). From what I can tell, both the group and timeout are encrypted along with the password so using <ac:macro ac:name="secure"> with the parameters doesn't seem to work.

I'm wondering if there's a way to basically launch the "Insert 'Secure' Macro" window with these fields auto populated and even ideally to have it open to the "Edit Secure Macro Secret" window as that's all we should need to enter if the rest is auto populated.

Any thoughts appreciated as I'd like to make it easier for our staff to use the macro consistently.

Cheers,

Liam

Hello Liam,

Can you share with us your Confluence version and Security plugin version? Other than that, we would need your user macro template for our review & testing on the possibilities.

You may email us the details to supportATservicerocket.com for privacy.

Thanks&Regards,
Ziana

Hi Ziana,

I really haven't got very far with the user macro unfortunately, so there's not a lot to send you (the one I've tried to write doesn't work at all).

Confluence version is 5.8.5 and Security and Encryption version is 2.7.0

Cheers,

Liam

Hello Liam,

Can you share with us what are you trying to achieve by creating user macro, is it to auto-populate title, timeout, and group, then allow any users to add their own secret content inside the macro?

Thanks&Regards,
Ziana

Hi Ziana,

That's exactly right, basically 99% of the time we create the same macro but with a different secret.

Having the option of defaulting settings for the main macro would also work.

Cheers,

Liam

Hello Liam,

After few testing & investigation, I found It is not possible to add {secure} macro in a user macro, as it is encrypted with password. We might need to add feature request to allow default settings on the macro.

Thanks&Regards,
Ziana

Thanks Ziana, I thought that might be the case.

A feature request would be awesome, its not particularly urgent obviously but I think the ability to have defaults would make sense for a lot of users.

Hello Liam,

I've added the feature request for you. The implementation would be based on feasibility & market demand.

Thanks&Regards,
Ziana

Where can I vote for this request? This would be just what we need as well.
