Detect if a JIRA issue link to Salesforce is broken via an API call

I'm auto-creating JIRA issues from an Apex trigger in SF. It's really important that the link doesn't get severed while the JIRA issue is being work. Is there anyway via the JIRA Rest API or through JQL to see if the the link has been deleted?

Yes please. Knowing if/when the links are broken is crucial to my business continuing to use this product. Since I'm using JIRA OnDemand, I basically have no visibility on errors generated by this plugin.
