How do I assign default values to Remote Object Link fields so that I can add it to my Service Desk Portal?

I am in the process of setting up a Service Desk Project and have been able to get Remote Object Fields working on the tickets and under the Edit button, but when I add them to the Service Desk Customer Portal I get a message This field type cannot be shown - you must provide a preset value.  I click on the "Edit" button and am unable to input a default value.  In the window that pops up when clicking "Edit" there is a + link on the screen, but nothing happens when I click on it.

I tried to input a default value through the Admin>Issues>Custom Fields>"Field">Configure but that did not have a option to input a default value.

Am I missing something?  Is there something that I should do on the set up so these fields don't remain Hidden on the Service Desk Customer Portal?

I have also posted this question on https://answers.atlassian.com.

Thanks.

Hello Zach,

It would be great if you could provide us with the following information:-
  • JIRA and Connector version
  • Screenshots of the behavior you are experiencing
  • Steps you took to add the field into ServiceDesk Customer Portal (with screenshots if possible)
Regards,
Adrien

I am not sure what the JIRA and Connector version is.  How do I determine that?

As for what steps I took to add the field into ServiceDesk Customer Portal, they were as follows:
Created Remote Access Custom Field
Tested Custom Field under Edit function in JIRA
Modified field and made selection
Within Customer Portal Setup selected "+ Add a field"
Selected Custom fields that I created
Field appeared as Hidden as it needed a default value
Unable to add a default value.

I'm having difficulty attaching screen shots as this application does not allow .tiff files.  Basically, the message that I am getting is:
"This field type cannot be shown - you must provide a preset value"
When I click on Edit Value button a pop-up appears for: "Set a preset value to hide this field"
I click on the " + " button, but am not able to add anything, nothing happens.  I am unable to set a default value.  That is what I am seeing.

Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Zach,

Thank you for providing the information.

For your information, Service Desk does not support third-party fields in the Service Desk Customer Portal at the moment. It is currently not possible to display the Remote Object Link field in the Service Desk Customer Portal.

Adrien
