Mapping SF checkbox to JIRA checkbox

I have two checkboxes in Salesforce on a bug object for our Support department to let Engineering know if a problem has been escalated by a client or needs an emergency patch. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to map this to JIRA. I tried labels but it only returned a value of "true" as a label. Not helpful. So I created a custom field in JIRA that is a single checkbox and attempted to map that to the related SF checkbox. It didn't work. I tried adding a map value in a few different ways but none of them worked. I either get a null error or a completely blank error. Can someone help me?

Is it possible the saved data is different in one system than the other?  For instance even though both show a checkbox (which I think of as 0 or 1) could one of the systems actually be storing yes/no?  Or one system use 1/2 or something like that?

If so you simply need to configure the map values on your custom field.

Creating a custom field and mapping it would be exactly what I would do.  Mapping was first thought as to why it didn't work that simply.

How do I find out what value each software uses for checkboxes? It seems that Salesforce might use true and false for the checkbox but I have no idea what JIRA uses.
