New to Perimeter - trying to get it to work

Hi, we just installed Perimeter to help fix (hopefully!) a problem we have been having in our External Confluence space when it is linking (using Excerpts) from an Internal Confluence space.

What we have done is put documentation in a documentation space that is internal to my company. I wanted to mirror parts of that documentation to our customers, so we made an external space where I make pages that link to the internal documentation space using Excerpts.

Of course I just found out that we keep getting the following error when doing this:

Even though some pages DO work normally...most do not and display the error.

So I saw Perimeter and thought we could try it to solve our problem. I have tried everything I can think of in the text box to include, using the SPACE: PAGE format, but nothing seems to work - "The specified link does not exist or is not accessible".

Does it need the full path of the internal page after the space name?

For example, this is using the space and the page name.
Internal Product Documentation: SUB-SMHB

It exactly mirrors what the page name is, and the space name.

Please let me know if you need screenshots or anything, I would really love to get this to work!

One thing I would love to have found was some simple instructions on how the set up process works. It was quite hard to find any documentation that gave someone new an idea how to use Perimeter. I did eventually find the Macro Reference page.

thank you,
Joel

Hello there,

What version of Confluence and Perimeter plugin you're using? Can you provide us storage format of your test page as well?

Thanks&Regards,
Ziana

Confluence 5.9.6 and Perimeter was installed about 4 days ago so I am assuming it is the latest version. (I am not the site Admin, I am the Technical Writer with space Admin permissions)

I am not sure what you mean by storage format of my test page?

Also, I did get the link working, but it isn't bringing through attachments, which we have on 100% of the pages we want in the external customer space.

Just FYI the original problem stemmed from me using Excerpt macros in my internal pages and linking those to external customer pages using Excerpt Include macros. When someone is not logged into Confluence, they get a rendering error.

Perimeter does fix that once I got it working, but does not allow attachments to be displayed.

Thank you,
Joel

Hello Joel,

The files are not displayed since they are attached on the original page, not on page(s) in external space. Most probably we need to add a feature request for this.

Thanks&Regards,
Ziana
